CZM distributed 12 thousand blankets around the country

Center for Zakat Management (CZM) has distributed about twelve thousand blankets along with some hundred pieces of warm clothes to the cold wave victims of different areas of the country.

The extreme poor families of the areas of Sonaimury of Noakhali, Shyamnagar of Satkhira, Durgapur of Rajshahi, Nageshwar of Kurigram, North and South Matlab of Chandpur, Sadar areas of Pabna, Mymensingh, Chittagong, Tangail and Sylhet.

With the support of local administration and public representatives CZM has distributed these blankets.

Employee training of CZM held

CZM organized a three days long training program titled ‘Smart Leadership for Zakat Management’ for all of its employees on 16-18 October at a local auditorium of Dhaka. The training covered orientation of CZM and its different types of activities, the philosophy CZM believes in, basics of Zakat, efficient and effective leadership for managing the projects etc. Noted scholars and trainers including Dr. Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman, Dr. Muhammad Abdul Mazid, Md. Sabur Khan etc. conducted different sessions of the training. Dr. Mohammad Ayub Miah, CEO of CZM moderated the training program. The trainees received completion certificate after the training.

Niaz Rahim Chairman of CZM receiving Islamic Economy Award 2015 from the Vice President & Prime Minister of UAE Sheikh Rashid al MaktoumCenter for Zakat Management (CZM) has been conferred upon the Islamic Economy Award as recognition of its initiatives and ideas pertaining to Waqf & Endowment category by Global Islamic Economic Summit.

The award was presented to Niaz Rahim, Chairman, Center for Zakat Management by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, Vice President & Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai in the second edition of the Global Islamic Economy Summit (GIES) held in Dubai on 5& 6 October 2015.

Over 2000 policymakers, thinkers and business leaders gathered to take part in the two-day summit hosted by the Dubai Chamber, the Dubai Islamic Economy Development Centre (DIEDC), and Thomson Reuters. In efforts to continue facilitating the growth and development of the Islamic economy, Sheikh Mohammed also officially inaugurated ‘Salaam Gateway,’ the first and only online platform for all Islamic economy-related industry intelligence, news, information and data.

The Islamic Economy Award was launched in 2013 under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and directed by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council. Now in its third year, the annual award recognises innovative world-class business initiatives and ideas that have contributed to the social and economic welfare of the Muslim population.

Under the Waqf & Endowments category, the Center for Zakat Management, among many organizations of different countries, has been selected for this award in recognition of its outstanding contributions to human welfare and poverty alleviation.

CZM inaugurated Genius-Chittagong 2015 for the newly admitted undergraduate students of public universities and medical college of Chittagong on Sunday 2 August 2015 at a local convention center of Chittagong. Mr. Salahuddin Kasem Khan, renowned businessmen and trustee secretary of A K Khan Foundation inaugurated the program as the chief guest. A total of 41 will be getting stipend amounting BDT 3000 along with a capacity building program each month for two years. Currently 125 students including 41 students of new batch are getting scholarship support from CZM in Chittagong. It is noteworthy that CZM’s Genius scholarship program is also available in Dhaka and Rajshahi.
