With the theme ‘Optimizing Global Zakat Role Through Digital Technology’, The World Zakat Forum International Conference 2019 was held in Bandung, Indonesia during 5-7 November 2019 with the participation of 28 nations. The conference was officially opened by Prof. Dr. K.H. Ma’ruf Amin, The Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia on Tuesday 5 November 2019.
Center for Zakat Management (CZM), a charitable organization engaged in the mobilization of Zakat with the purpose of alleviating poverty, participated the conference. The CZM delegate comprised of The CEO Dr. Mohammad Ayub Miah and Shariah Supervisory Board Members Dr. Monjur e Elahi, Shah Mohmmad Wali Ullah and Md. Mokhtar Ahmad attended the conference. The CEO of CZM, Dr. Mohammad Ayub Miah spoke on “Strengthening the Role of the World Zakat Forum in the Digital Era” in the conference. He emphasized on Integration of Zakat, Awqaf & Sadaqah for poverty alleviation, digitalization of Zakat management, research and training to increased capacity of the Amelins (Zakat Managers) in his speech.
The leaders and practitioners of world zakat institutions, regional leaders and related agencies, academics and researchers, Non-Government Organizations (NGOs), representatives of multinational institutions discussed the challenges of the digital age and the role of zakat in improving the community’s economy in the conference.
