Center for Zakat Management (CZM) represented Bangladesh at International Conference on Zakat

A two-day international conference on “Strengthening Global Zakat Cooperation in Increasing the Welfare of the Ummah” was organized by World Zakat Forum (WZF) on December 5-6, 2018 at Melaca, Malaysia. The objective of the conference was to evaluate Global Zakat System and take measures to strengthen the system.

The conference was attended by Zakat institution’s leaders, practitioners, Regulators and government representatives, Academicians and Researchers, Non-Governmental Organizations and representative of multilateral institutions from 28 countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, Nigeria, Morocco, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bangladesh, Turkey, India, Maldives, Brunei Darussalam, Srilanka, Kazakhstan, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, United Kingdom, Sudan and Jordan. Ministers of Religious Affairs of Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam, Sri Lanka and Maldives attended the conference. Representatives from UNICEF and UNDP also attended the conference.

Center for Zakat Management (CZM), a charitable organization engaged in the mobilization of Zakat with the purpose of alleviating poverty, represented Bangladesh in the conference. A delegation of CZM comprising Mr. Salahuddin Kasem Khan, Advisor of CZM, Mr. Niaz Rahim, Chairman of CZM, Dr. Mohammad Abdul Mazid, Governing Body member of CZM,  Dr. Mohammad Ayub Miah, CEO of CZM attended the conference.

The CEO of CZM and a Deputy Secretary General of WZF, Dr. Mohammad Ayub Miah and the Governing Body Member Dr. Mohammad Abdul Mazid were speakers of the conference. They presented on CZM activates and strengthening role of WZF in the conference.

The conference agenda brought some interesting topics on current issues of zakat such as Zakat and SDGs, Good Amil (Zakat Administrator) Governance and Improvement of Transparency and Accountability of Zakat Institution.  This conference has been a milestone of Global Zakat Movement.


CZM’s Genius Scholarship Awarding Ceremony 2018 held

Center for Zakat Management (CZM) launched its Genius Scholarship Program 2018 for the underprivileged meritorious undergraduate students of the public universities and medical colleges at a local auditorium, Dhaka on Saturday 24 November 2018. Eminent Economist and Former adviser to caretaker government Dr. Hossain Zillur Rahman inaugurated the program.
This year, a total of 1700 first-year students of all the public universities and medical colleges around the country will be provided monthly stipends under the program. Among them, 276 students who are studying at different public institutions at Dhaka including Dhaka University, Jagannath University, Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET), Dhaka Medical College, Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University were awarded scholarship in the ceremony.
Among others, Mr. Arastoo Khan, former Secretary to the Government, Mr. AMM Nasiruddin, former Secretary to the Government, Dr. Mohammad Ayub Miah, CEO of CZM were present. The program was chaired by Chairman of CZM and Group Director of Rahimafrooz, Mr. Niaz Rahim.
Unlike conventional scholarship programs, CZM arranges various motivational and training programs like career planning, time management, stress management, leadership development, mind control, self-development etc. to help the students become competitive and better citizens of the country. CZM has been providing the Scholarship since 2010 with Zakat money paid by various corporate organizations and individuals.
Dr. Hossain Zillur Rahman welcomed this unique initiative to help underprivileged students to continue their studies smoothly. He suggested students to study attentively and wished them all the best.
The rest students will be awarded scholarship in the ceremonies organized locally, informed by the CEO of CZM.

CZM Distributes Ultrasonogram Machine to Friday Free Clinic at Jatrabari, Dhaka

The Center for Zakat Management (CZM) has distributed an Ultrasonogram Machine to Friday Free Clinic (FFC) at Dhamrai, Jatrabari of Dhaka 19th March 2012 at 3pm so that the poor and needy people can get help at free of cost.

A seminar on ‘Utilization of Zakat for sustainable poverty alleviation’ jointly organized by Chittagong Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CMCCI) and Center for Zakat Management (CZM) was held on Saturday at CMCCI Conference hall. 3rd Genius Scholarship launching ceremony held

Center for Zakat Management (CZM) launched its 3rd Genius Scholarship program for the poor but meritorious undergraduate students of the public universities and medical colleges at Baton Rouge Convention Hall, Gulshan-2, Dhaka on Friday 27 April 2012. Genius-Chittagong 2015 launched

CZM inaugurated Genius-Chittagong 2015 for the newly admitted undergraduate students of public universities and medical college of Chittagong on Sunday 2 August 2015 at a local convention center of Chittagong. Mr. Salahuddin Kasem Khan, renowned businessmen and trustee secretary of A K Khan Foundation inaugurated the program as the chief guest. A total of 41 will be getting stipend amounting BDT 3000 along with a capacity building program each month for two years. Currently 125 students including 41 students of new batch are getting scholarship support from CZM in Chittagong. It is noteworthy that CZM's Genius scholarship program is also available in Dhaka and Rajshahi.
